Hunt Dragonflies with Jay Kaplan from Roaring Brook Nature Center
Sunday, July 29th/1 PM
Registration is limited
Did you know that collecting information on dragonflies helps determine the health of the environment?
The Burlington Land Trust is fortunate to have Jay offer to lead a dragonfly hunt at two locations in our town. We’ll start at the BLT’s Brower Pond on Greer Rd and then it’s on to Johnnycake Mountain Park Pond.
Meet Jay Kaplan and learn from his expertise. You’ll discover dragonflies’ unique qualities, and see if you have the skill it takes to snatch these creatures from the air with the nets Jay will provide. Information will be collected at each pond and send it UCONN to be used in their database. UCONN uses this along with other information to determine the health of the environment at these two locations and thoughout the State.
Jay Kaplan has been a director/naturalist for Roaring Brook Nature Center in Canton since 1975 and has led many types of nature programs for adults and kids. He’s considered an expert in his field. If a local TV station needs information about animals and rehabilitation, oftentimes they call Jay.
