Trails of the Past, Present and Future

Sunday, December 3rd

1-3:30 pm

Hike trails from the 70s, 80s and 2020s around the Barnes Nature Center  in a 3 mile loop with hike leader, Alan Perrie.

  • Climb up a Mega Glacial Esker on the new Purple Trail into the 63 acre Pigeon Hill Preserve and learn how the land was saved from mining and development.

  • Discover the newly designed and almost completed Universally Accessible Nature Trail, which is a first in CT!

  • Visit the exhibits in the Nature Center.

For the hike:

Wear sturdy shoes/boots.

Bring hiking poles, especially useful for the climb up the esker.  There are hills to climb and descend.

Carry water and snacks, if you’d like.

Pre-registration is appreciated at this link in case of bad weather.

Please leave your “furever” friends at home.

Parking and Meeting Spot:

The hike will begin and end at the Harry C. Barnes Nature Center on 175 Shrub Rd, Bristol, CT 06010.  Meet on the sidewalk in front of the Nature Center.
