Founded in 1989, the Burlington land Trust is a non-profit organization funded by membership dues and donations. The principal mission of any land trust is to conserve open space. Click here for a list of our properties.

Land Trusts work with individuals, businesses, and all levels of government, sharing a common objective of land preservation through acquisition, donation or conservation easement. Land Trusts also work cooperatively with other organizations including the Nature Conservancy and the Trust for Public Lands to further ensure the donor's intent to conserve undeveloped land.

We are committed to working with town government, the water companies that own so much property in town and trail organizations like The Connecticut Forest & Park Association to make good use of the open space and trails we do have as we work to preserve truly special places that will enhance the quality of life in Burlington. We do not oppose development and we believe strongly in property rights.
