Join the Burlington Land Trust as we walk back in time to…
Negro/Freeman Hill in Burlington
Sunday, April 19th 2026
12:30 - 3:30 pm
The Negro/ Freeman Hill area is interesting as it straddles the border between four towns, two counties and two watersheds. During the late eighteenth and early 19th centuries it was a refuge for a rogue's gallery of political and racial outcasts. The walk will cover some of the figures who lived on and around Negro/ Freeman Hill and how they impacted the history of our community. Tom Rubino, a history teacher from the Global Experience Magnet School in Bloomfield and local historian, will share his research about this area with hike participants. Join us on this America 250 Hike.
