Freeman Hill in Burlington

The Freeman Hill area is interesting as it straddles the border between four towns, two counties and two watersheds. During the late eighteenth and early 19th centuries it was a refuge for a rogue's gallery of political and racial outcasts. The walk will cover some of the figures who lived on and around Negro/ Freeman Hill and how they impacted the history of our community. Tom Rubino, a history teacher from the Global Experience Magnet School in Bloomfield and local historian, will share his research about this area with hike participants.
